Maddie + Andrew’s magical Gramercy Park Engagement

This Gramercy Park engagement session all started when Maddie & Andrew met on a yacht week in Croatia! I mean…. talk about the perfect place to fall in love! They continued their romance when they returned home to magical New York City and started a courtship that led us all the way to this beautiful engagement session.

Andrew had been planning the proposal for months with Maddie’s family. He had the whole plan down, including getting the ring mailed to her father’s office in Atlanta, to propose on Maddie’s 30th birthday weekend. Surrounded by family and friends Andrew knew this undoubtedly was the perfect opportunity to propose. Unfortunately, when the package arrived at the office the secretary refused to sign, not knowing whose name was on the package! Andrew’s plans for the weekend were foiled as the ring was sent back to FedEx. Luckily he was able to reform his plans quickly and proposed the next week while in New York with their parents.

I traveled to NYC a few weeks later and we decided on beautiful Gramercy Park for their session. Living nearby Maddie + Andrew were given one of the elusive keys to the park. Maddie knew it would be the perfect spot for their session. We photographed at sunrise and it felt like a dream! Maddie + Andrew had the whole park to ourselves. Somehow in a city of almost 9 million people, it felt like the moment was made for just these two.

I cannot recommend enough doing a sunrise session, especially if you live in a busy city! There is something so mystical about the early morning light. Soaking up the energy of a new day. Whether you’re in the city or on a mountaintop sunrise feels like a secret gift. Cheers to Maddie and Andrew who woke up early to create with me.
