Lindsey + Brian’s Fall Mountain Wedding at the Breckenridge Nordic Center
Lindsey and Brian have one of my favorite stories. They met because one of Lindsey’s friends took her phone and swiped right on Brian! Luckily Lindsey went along with her friend and met Brian. There was an instant connection between the two and shortly after they were planning their wedding! Brian, who originally is from Scotland, loved getting to snowboard out in Colorado, and they knew they wanted a mountain wedding. Travel back in time with me to their fall mountain wedding at the Breckenridge Nordic Center.
Breckenridge was their favorite mountain to ride at, so naturally, they found a venue there! The Breckenridge Nordic Center sits at the base of the mountain, with stunning views behind it. The Nordic Center has an old-world feel, with massive wooden beams, and a considerable window that opens up onto the lawn where the ceremonies are held. It is the perfect venue for anyone who wants that quintessential Colorado mountain wedding. Their wedding was held the second week in October, and they were lucky to be surrounded by the yellow aspen leaves. The aspen leave changing is a magnificent site in Colorado and only happens for a few weeks out of the year! I love how the colors evoke feelings of crisp air and fall days.
The Bride, Groom, and their first look!
Lindsey got ready at an Airbnb nearby surrounded by her family. She wore a BHLDN gown, complete with Badgley Mischka shoes. Both were adding the perfect amount of glitz to her mountain style. Brian got ready at the venue, and then we met in a grove of aspen trees! L + B read letters to each other while standing back to back before seeing each other. I love witnessing these moments and recommend to everyone to write a note on the day of your wedding. Whether you read them back to back or separate, it is such a great way to have a private moment together and to soak in the moment.
The Ceremony
How perfect is the Breckenridge Nordic Center for a fall mountain wedding? Their wooden arch is there year-round and can be decorated with various florals. I love what Lindsey and Brian did here with the vibrant pink and magenta flowers that highlight the ceremony site and make it pop! The rustic decor adds to the mountain feel and screams Colorado. Lindsey walked with her dad down the aisle, the Nordic Center framing them in the background, and immediately got stuck in the mud with her shoes! She promptly kicked them off and continued. Brian and Lindsey’s ceremony was full of laughter, joy, love, and traditions! Since Brian is from Scotland, they did a traditional tying of the knot ceremony, performed by his father. I love that they were able to incorporate tradition and their family into the service; it’s moments like those that make your day.
The Reception!
L + B’s wedding guests were treated to handmade cheese and fruit plates during the cocktail hour; her family crafted each one with love that morning. And holy cow did they do a fantastic job! Charcuterie goals, if I ever have seen them. The cocktail hour came to completion with a horn signaling dinner, performed by the manager of the venue! After dinner, there were toasting, dances, and then a surprise sing-along by the Bride’s sister and father. A throwback to My Best Friend’s wedding and “Say a little Prayer for You.” And surprise! All of the guests had their lobster claws. Lindsey and Brian exited the night surrounded by friends and sparklers, the perfect ending to a beautiful fall mountain wedding.
