Winter Colorado Engagement Session

Editorial Winter Colorado Engagement Session by Josie VG + B’s Romantic Winter Colorado Engagement Session

Before all of the fun of Coronavirus, there were still engagement sessions, and Grace and Brad had an epic winter Colorado engagement session among the snowcapped mountains. We ventured up to Sapphire Point by Lake Dillion for their adventurous winter Colorado engagement session. G + B decided to brave the cold for the stunning Colorado views. There is something about Colorado in the winter that is magical. The quiet mountains hold so much power and force in them, yet look so romantic. I love getting the opportunity to work with their beauty, and to have such beauty in our backyards.

Grace and I went back and forth for a bit on what location would be the best fit for them and eventually settled on Sapphire Point. Sapphire Point is one of the more easily accessible places in Colorado for those dramatic mountain views that Colorado is famous for.

What to wear for your engagement session:

I love how the landscape just offers blues and greens to compliment the white snow. G + B styled themselves perfectly to the scene, wearing neutral colors that blended in well with the background. When you are deciding what to wear for your engagement shoot, you want to make sure that you are complimenting the backdrop, as well as showcasing yourselves. Neutral colors and solid items work well cause they help to highlight your faces and personalities, instead of the clothing distracting from your love!

Tips for wearing multiple outfits:

I recommend wearing two outfits for your session. This way, you can be a little more formal and casual all in the same session. You want to make sure that you don’t do too many outfits, though, because you risk losing precious time for shooting! I also love that Grace chose a color that popped among the blues of the mountains. Flowy dresses are fabulous for engagement shoots; they offer movement and the opportunity to use a lot of different poses. If you are planning a winter engagement session, make sure you are ready for the cold! Consequently, wear shoes with a grip, or be prepared to have your significant other help carry you!

Furthermore, always make sure that you get some photos of your ring during your engagement session! It’s more helpful to have professional images to show someone when they ask to see your ring than to use your phone photos! (speaking from personal experience…) I love the shot with their hands together and the colors of the snowcapped mountains in the distance. There is a good reason they call it Colorful Colorado!
