I love this wedding at Moss in Denver, Colorado. Moss is a hidden gem in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Its chic industrial vibe makes it the perfect venue for a modern wedding. And that’s exactly what Courtney and Nathan had in mind when they chose Moss for their big day.
Courtney + Nathan’s wedding was a true reflection of their personalities. They’re a modern couple who love bold colors, minimalistic details, and one hell of a party. They wanted their wedding to be stylish yet laid-back, focusing on good food, music, and company.
Getting Ready + A Backyard First Look
Courtney and Nathan are relatively private people, so they knew they wanted their first moment seeing each other to be just them. We set Nathan up in the backyard of Courtney’s childhood home and ushered Courtney out to see him, with both sets of parents peeking out the windows.
The couple then exchanged private vows with one another before the ceremony, their dog Cooper lying loyally at their feet.
The wedding crew then traveled to the venue, Moss. Moss sits off Santa Fe in Denver and boasts two large industrial-chic rooms, a lush moss wall, twinkling chandeliers, and gorgeous vintage windows. The perfect setting for a modern wedding in Denver, Colorado.
The Ceremony
A lifelong preacher, Nathan’s father officiated the ceremony at Moss. Courtney’s brother escorted their dog down the aisle, wedding rings dangling from his collar. Courtney walked down the aisle in a sleek modern white dress with her father at her side. They exchanged vows in front of a minimalist greenery installation that added an organic feel to the industrial setting.
The Reception: A Modern Wonderland
After the ceremony, guests were invited to the other side of the venue, where the Great Family Reunion Band was set and ready for their first set. The couple entered cocktail hour to Ginuwine’s “Pony”, followed by Poolside’s rendition of “Harvest Moon” for their first dance.
Meanwhile, the ceremony space was transformed into a modern wonderland, with a hanging floral installation, twinkling candles, and vintage glassware. The tables were set with blue and white place settings, with greenery draped elegantly across the center of each long table.
The food was a highlight of the evening, with a menu that included everything from short ribs to late-night fries. The bar served craft cocktails and local beer, and the dance floor was packed all night long.
Courtney’s Uncle was kind enough to host a mini Magic Show during the band’s set break, shocking the guests and delighting the couple as he combined their handwriting from two cards into one!
The two ended their modern wedding at Moss Denver surrounded by friends cheering them on from their last dance together to a grand exit surrounded by glowsticks and joy. Cheers to Courtney and Nathan!
Moss is a must-see if you’re planning a modern wedding in Denver. Its urban-chic ambiance and flexible event spaces make it a top choice for couples who want something different. And with the ability to infuse your personality into the space, your wedding will surely be unforgettable.
